The varieties of materials and styles that are now available in kitchen countertops ensures that you will have no problem finding kitchen countertops that are just right for your kitchen. Don't scrimp on the price of your countertops. They will take much use and abuse over the years - you use them to hold hot dishes, cut vegetable and fruits on them thereby exposing them to scratches and nicks and spill gravies and liquids that leave stains. A new kitchen countertop will be the crowning glory f your brand new kitchen. This isn't an investment that you will have to make again and again and you can expect your countertops to last as long as your house, so don't pinch pennies here.
Granite is one of the most widely used materials for kitchen countertop surfaces. Earlier restricted to wealthy home owners who could afford its exorbitant cost, granite now has become affordable enough to find a place in millions of kitchens around the country. It's easy to clean and looks great on your countertops. The cons are that it could stain if not sealed well, and you have a more restricted choice in colors with black kitchen countertops being the most commonly sued ones. If you're looking for a cheap countertop that's also stylish and easy to use, granite is your best bet. Alternately you could choose from marble which is supremely elegant and hardy, but quite expensive. Consider marble for your kitchen island countertop instead instead of having it all round your kitchen. Concrete can take abuse very well, but might not have the same rich gloss that more expensive material do. Ceramic ties are affordable and inexpensive, but because they could be uneven, tiled kitchen countertops might not guarantee the same kind of finish as granite.
Remember to take your lifestyle into consideration before you make a decision. Wood and marble are high quality but also high maintenance materials that can take a lot of time and effort to maintain. These are not the right choice if you have large family and cook often. With such a wide range of materials and colors available you're sure to find the kitchen countertop that's right for your home.
I'd like to Remodel Kitchen Area: Take an existing wet bar area and tear out and replace with pantry/storage cabinetry that matches existing cupboards. Take out soffit on change cupboards to go all the way up. Close up current microwave location and make cabinets. Replace all countertops with granite type countertops. Replace rangetop with new range etc.
